Privlaka (population 3.000) is located on a flat, spacious and sandy peninsula 7 km long and 4 km wide. On the north-east it encloses the Bay of Nin while on the south-west the Zadar channel. It s characterised by a mild mediterranean climate with 2.540 sunny days per year.
Rich archeological findings in the area and the remains of sacred objects attest the early settlement of man from Neolithic times. Privlaka s shallow coastline, abundance of drinking water (wich is confirmed by the numerous wells seattered all over the area) and the culivatable soil are just some of the reasons for this early settlement and may explain its attraction up to the present time.
In 1296, the first written recollection of Privlaka mentions it as a wine-growing locality, further, through the history it was also known as a place for seamen, fishermen and, most particularly, of the traders of sand ("sabunjari").
Today Privlaka is an attractive tourist locality due to its numerous shallow, sandy inlets and beaches that are ideal vacation places for families with small children. Privlaka is known also for its inhts containing medicinal mud. Here you can spend your vacation surrounded by the ecologically preservd nature far away from loud noises and everyday problems, in comfortable rooms, apartmetns and camps.
Thanks to its position on the most indented part of the Adriatic coastline, this area offers great possibilities for the nautical tourism and sailing. Likewise, in the neighbourhood there are three national parks (Paklenica, Kornati islands and Krka waterfalls) and three nature parks (Telaščica on the Long Island, Lake Vrana and Holliday village Zaton)
