Getting there
Nearest international airport....Split served by Croatian airlines, British airways and Easyjet.
Autobus transfer from Split airport to ferryport approx 30 minutes.
Hire cars are available at Split airport.

Ryanair fly into Zadar which is about a 2 hour drive to Split ferryport. There are good coach and rail connections from Zagreb and Rijeka. The ferries from Split to Brac Island run almost hourly, and journey time of 45 minutes, about 2 euro per foot passenger, and 15 euro per car.

Demography
Brac is the third largest of the Croatian Islands, being approx 36 km long by 12km wide.
Highest peak is Vidova Gora at 778 metres above sea level.
Population is approx 13,000 people.

Industries
Tourism, fishing, livestock farming, agriculture include olives, grapes, almonds, and citrus fruits.
Brac is well known for its sardine production, and tins of sardines can be found in supermarkets worlwide.
There are stone quarries on the Island that mine a very white stone, and many of the Island houses are built with or faced with Brac stone.

Supetar
Supetar is the gateway to Brac with its frequent ferry services to mainland Split. The ferries run hourly during the tourist season with a journey time of 45 minutes.Supetar has a lively harbour front ( riva ) with a good variety of shops, cafes and restuarants.
Population is 3500, town fetival of St. Peter and Paul is June 29th.There are several nice pine fringed beaches with the same crystal clear waters that can be found all around the Island.Buses run from Supetar to all of the Islands towns and villages. Car and scooter hire are available, but if it is not too hot, hire a bicycle and cycle through the lovely pine wood tracks.  

Splitska
A very picturesque cove and village about 5 kilometres from Supetar which has all the essentials for a peaceful vacation. The cove is surrounded by pine woods and you can walk or cycle through the coastal path to Postira.

Postira
A well known destination on Brac that has everything to offer. Postira has a large harbour area and several very nice beaches along the bay with beautiful views across to the mainland. There are a very good selection of small shops and restuarants to suit all tastes and budgets.
Postira offers a good choice of private accommodation, some right by the sea like apartment Joran, as well as several nice hotels.
Organised fishing and boat trips are easily arranged. Scooter and bicycle hire are available.
Postira is also the birthplace of celebrated writer and poet Vladimir Nazor.
Population 1600. Town festivals St. John the Baptist, patron saint of the parish (24th of June), Our Lady of Mt. Carmel (16th of July) and the Assumption (15th of August).

Povlja
Povlja is situated on the eastern end of Brac and is approximately 10km from the ferryport of Sumartin.
A small and very attractive cove where you can find both hotel and private accommodation, such as Villa Pupa.
Povlja is surrounded by other small bays, Smokvica, Tatinja, and Travna.
Population of Povlja is approx 400 which makes for an ideal quiet family or romantic holiday.

Sumartin
Is situated on the easternmost end of Brac, and is becoming an increasingly popular holiday resort.
Boat trips are easily arranged to sheltered coves, inlets, beaches and the mainland.
Walking and bicycle trails through pine tracks, and olive groves and vineyards are a splendid way to admire the Mediterranean scenery.
Poulation of Sumartin is approx. 700
There are direct car ferry connections from mainland Makarska.
The well appointed watefront property Villa Rosemarine can accommodate up to 14 people.

Bol
Bol is the most well known resort on Brac, and unlike the majority is on the South side of the Island overlooking the channel to Hvar Island, to where boat trips are easily arranged.
It has the famous Zlatni Rat (golden cape) beach, which with its long and finely shingled beach is to be seen on many photographs of Croatia holiday magazines.
There are many good hotels which are well hidden and situated in pine woodland on the approach to Zlatni Rat.
Bol is certainly the watersport centre with its windsurfing, sailboard and diving schools.
Bol has nightlife, but also plenty of 'out of the way' restuarants and bars.
From Bol there is a really nice 4km walk or cycle ride out to Murvica along the coastal path, while those with plenty of energy can continue on, and make the climb to Dragons cave and Blaca hermitage.
Population of Bol is approx 1800

Milna
The lovely fishing and sailing port of Milna lies approx 20km southwest of Supetar and on the most western side of the Island.
It has the safest harbour on the Brac, and a Marina with some 200 berths.
5km north of Milna is Bobovisca, a very small pretty village of 60 inhabitants, situated in a lovely fjord
On either side of Milna harbour are coves with both sand and pebble beaches, probably the best of these is the cove of Vlaska.
Milna with its winding streets, attractive stone houses, and secluded coves, is just one of those perfect vacation destinations.
Villa Spasenka directly overlooking the harbour can accommodate up to 8 persons.

Sutivan
Sutivan on the northern coast of Brac is 7km west of the main ferryport of Supetar which connects to mainland Split with frequent car ferries.
The beaches which are to the western side are mainly pebbled, with the exception of Livka bay which has a sandy beach.
The pine and palm lined harbour front with its numerous pavement cafes streches for a long way, and is just a delight to stroll along in the warm summer evenings.
Local konobas will serve you with a good variety of local food and wines.
